Track Name: New Song/ Old Song
Give a gift to me and just go by:
I'd feel so grateful.
I'll pay you back; could that just be why
you were nice at all?

I can't afford you. I can't afford you,
without heavy loads of debt fees.
Are we like this, living amiss,
helping out for equal reward?
I hope I'm wrong.

Honesty is all you need,
but I can't quite get that right.
If altruism exists, that's nice;
if not, that's just how it is.

Give a gift to me and just go by:
I'd feel so grateful.
I'll pay you back; could that just be why
you were nice at all?

I admit you, if you want to
wonder daily when charity
better serves our narcissism,
when we fake our empathy.
I can't afford you. I can't afford you
without heavy load of debt fees.
Are we like this, living amiss,
helping out for equal reward?

[Note: These lyrics are from about 2010--so a little personally outdated. The song came from the doubt that there is such a thing as true self-giving Love, and the suspicion that we are motivated to do good only to get something in return or to feel good about ourselves. No doubt, there is real Love! (But we tend toward narcissism big time.) Eventually, after this album was finished, I stopped ignoring that the answer is in the Lord Jesus Christ, in His Mystical Body: His One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, with more thanks than I can give also due to His Blessed Mother. No doubt, without Him, we can do nothing and less than nothing. All glory, praise and honor be to the Most Holy Trinity!]
Track Name: Growth
The thought can be a lure,
To think that life was more enchant',
Once when you were a kid,
Whose nature's to take life for grant'.

To look too close at things,
Might seem a sign that you're corrupt.
It might not seem as childlike,
But I still think it's so much fun.

Like some protected bird,
We keep them sheltered in the day,
Only to fly when the sun sets down,
And poachers and killers have all gone away.

You're kid is still with you.
You knew your name before it changed,
The baby-state won't take your guidance,
So don't try for the baby will not be attained.

(Chorus)
Unlike wounds, time is not the sole solution.
Only sleep can bring me back to solid reality.
Even though I don't know, I'm fine.

Math mind hits the scrambler, out of leads;
And curiously, graphs grow from the ether,
Sequencing in streams once when she woke up in the night.

I watched in black and white,
A film, a bridge, a robe be thrown.
Bundles fall separately,
But which one does which shadow own?

Clipped by edge of screen,
Small bunch seems to block the sun,
Over large river space,
Until it comes the weightiest one.

Like some illegal plant,
We hid them all in lit basements,
Your childhood replaced by analgesic,
Sniffed after your shift, but not quite insufflant.

Your kid is still with you.
You knew your name before it changed.
The baby-state won't need your guidance,
So don't try or the baby will not be attained.
Only to fly when the sun sets down,
And poachers and killers have all gone away.
The baby-state won't need your guidance,
So don't try or the baby cannot be attained.
Your childhood replaced by analgesic,
Sniffed after your shift, but not quite insufflant.

(Chorus)
Unlike wounds, time is not the sole solution.
Only sleep can bring me back to solid reality.
Even though I still know I'm fine.

Math-mind hits the scrambler, out of leads;
And curiously, graphs grow from the ether,
Sequencing in streams once when she woke up in the night.
